Northern Anaesthetic Practice (NAP) was founded in 1995 by Dr. C. J. Leerkamp and is a group of 8 specialist anaesthesiologists based in Durbanville, Cape Town. Each specialist has over 12 years of training and postgraduate examinations, with most having 10+ years of private practice experience.
Our comprehensive service includes peri-operative management, expert knowledge of surgical and medical conditions, applied physiology and pharmacology, and monitoring patients during surgery and immediate recovery. We are members of the South African Society of Anaesthesiologists.

Essential guidelines for your surgical experience
• Breast milk: up to 4 hours before surgery
• Clear fluids: up to 2 hours before surgery
• Milk/food: up to 6 hours before surgery
• Clear fluids: up to 3 hours before surgery

Since 2004, there is no recommended fixed tariff for medical services. Doctors can charge professional fees they can justify, while medical schemes determine their own benefit payment levels.
A "National Reference Price list" exists but is not mandatory. Patients may be responsible for additional payments beyond medical aid coverage.
